We’ve been supporting charities and working in our local communities in 2022.

Throughout 2022 we have been supporting local charities and working in the community creating partnerships with local schools and organisations.

We began the year with a site tour of our new homes arm, Westerhill Homes by Chartway’s Pebble Gate Place development in Sandwich. 6th Form students from Sandwich Technology School toured the site before embarking on a ‘Design an Eco Home’ competition where the judging and the winners were announced in May. Further school’s visits included talks on ‘A Career in Construction’ and attending Careers fairs.

At our Conningbrook Lakes development in Ashford we’ve supported local artists to run outdoor art workshops, and some of our new residents have joined in with an art safari which took place in August.

We send out regular Considerate Constructor Newsletters to residents in the areas where we are building, keeping them informed about what we are doing on site. We gave all our Westerhill Homes by Chartway residents at our Sandwich development toll passes to be able to access the beach via a toll road,

We’ve continued our support of Air Ambulance Charity KSS with a large donation and held a giant show home furniture and accessories sale at the Forstal Mead development in Coxheath where donations paid for items sold to staff.

Our staff have been raising funds for charity, by towing an 18-tonne truck and running Marathons, we’ve helped to support their fundraising by adding all the details onto our SharePoint platform.

Some of our team are keen golfers and were able to enter teams in Charity Golf Days, and we supported Breast Cancer Now on their ‘Wear it Pink Day and raised £395 for them. We collected food, clothing and sleeping bags for local charity Maidstone Homeless Care and are getting ready to join in with Save The Children’s ‘Wear Your Christmas Jumper to Work’ this month, raising valuable funds for their essential work with children.

We have an active ‘Women in Construction’ Working Party we have achieved several actions this year which have benefitted all colleagues. Our Stones Farm site in Bapchild, Sittingbourne site team hosted a ladies ‘Have A Go Day’ where colleagues tried out different trades such as bricklaying, plumbing and surveying. We are organising a return event for next year where some of our male colleagues come into the offices to try out different roles, such as marketing, sales and customer care.

We’ve got a lot of plans for 2023, as we continue to give back to the community, support local groups and encourage our staff in their fundraising activities, which align with the Group’s ethos for social responsibility.
